Early Dismissal Days will be the entire last week of school, June 14 – 18.  School will be dismissed at 1:10pm each day.  The After School Care Program will be in session Monday through Thursday.  Please note that there will be no After School Care on Friday, June 18th. 

     

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL will be held Sunday through Thursday evenings, July 25-29, 6:30 to 8 PM at the First Baptist Church of Sussex. The Hero Headquarters theme encourages kids to be super-heroes for good and includes games, songs, crafts, snacks and Bible storytime.  All children age 5 and up are invited; no pre-registration is necessary (please call 973-875-9451 if any special accommodation will be needed).  The church is located at the corner of Routes 23 and 284 in Sussex Borough.

 

Father's Day Country Breakfast Wantage Twp. Fire Department Co.#1 Beemerville Fire Department will hold a Father's  Day Country Breakfast on Sunday, June 20, from 7:00am to 11:00am.  Adults $8.00, Children (4-12) $4.00, Under 4 (free).  For tickets/info 973-600-3920.  Tickets will also be sold at door.

 

Important Notice about Bus Changes and Passes: Please notify the transportation department of any changes to your child’s bussing schedule for the upcoming school year, i.e. daycare, babysitter, etc. NO bus changes will be made unless the request is submitted in writing by August 13th and sent to Sussex Wantage Transportation Depart., 27 Bank St., Sussex, NJ 07461 or faxed to 973-702-0764. Also, NO changes at all will be made from August 20th through September 17th. No bus passes will be permitted during this time period.

 

Saddle Ridge Ranch Vacation Bible School at Christian Faith Fellowship Church in Route 94, Franklin is free for children 3 years old (potty trained) through 6th grade.  Dates are Monday, July19th through Friday, July 23rd, from 9:00am till 12:30 pm.  This year’s theme is “Saddle Ridge Ranch” which will cover – Need Answers? ATTENTION ALL ATHLETES!!!!!!  Sports physicals will be held at Sussex Middle School on Tuesday, August 24th ONLY from 9:00-12:00pm.  Any student who is going to participate in X-country, field hockey, track, basketball, and cheerleading MUST have a physical.  State physical forms can be picked up in Mrs. Paling’s office.  Any questions please call Mrs. Paling at 973-874-4138   ext.  5.  Only completed State physical forms will be accepted.

 

Vacation Bible School Sussex United Methodist Church's Vacation Bible School is setting sail this summer on a High Seas Expedition on July 12th -July 16th from 9:30am -12:00pm.  Students who have finished pre-school through 5th grade are welcome to join us for fun mornings full of crafts, songs and amazing stories.  For more information or to register, please call Jayne at 973-702-0479 or Jane at 973-875-6364.

The results for this year’s PTO Box Tops Contest are in.  Please do not bring in any more box tops.  Save them for next year’s contest.  A total of 56,284 Box tops were collected during this school year, or $5,628.40.  Thank you for all of your help this year collecting and bringing in Box Tops.

    And, thank you to every family that collected box tops.  These scraps of paper can add up to great things for our students. Please keep your eyes open for bonus box top opportunities over the summer and continue to collect and save for next year’s contest. Thank you!

 

SeaQuest – Diving for God’s Treasure is the theme for Hope Evangelical Free Church’s daily Vacation Bible School on July 19-23.  Children ages 3 years to 9th grade will participate in crafts, games, snacks, memory verses and skits.  A mom’s Bible study and craft time will meet simultaneously, so mom’s are welcome to stay and enjoy the fellowship.  This is a FREE program and everyone is welcome.  For more information or to register call 973-875-2221.  The church is located at 1574 Rt. 565 on the Sussex/Vernon border.

 

Benefit Pasta Dinner Wantage Fire Dept/Colesville Co. 2 and the Shelton Shooters 4H club will be hosting a pasta dinner to benefit the Johnstone Family rebuild their house lost to fire in late May. Dinner will be served at the Colesville Firehouse, State Highway Route 23, on Friday June 25, from 5:00pm until all are served.  Adults $15.00, children 6 -15 $8.00. No charge for children 5 and under.  A cash bar is also available.  Take out available. 

 

Vacation Bible School   “Praise Celebration” at Frankford Plains United Methodist Church will be held August 16 - 20 from 9:00am to noon.  Classes for 3 years old to 14 years old.  Call to register 973-702-0334 or 973-875-3517.

 

Book Fair Results: The Sussex-Wantage PTO held a book fair June 3rd and 4th at the Wantage Elementary School. We sold over $11,000 worth of books, which will bring over $5,500 worth of books and resource materials into our three schools! Thank you all who came out to support this event! We would like to thank all of our volunteers who helped set-up, run, and pack up the fair: Debbie Fisher, Cheryl Glennon, Kathy Cafasso, Susan Browne, Maureen DeFalco, Rachel K. Vosburg, Joan Casserly, Barbara Comstock, Michele Clink, Bekki Schnetzer, Debbie King, Karen Cosentino, Christine Williams, Barbara Gellner, Mary Ellen Nelson, Karen Taliercio, Denise Lange, Sandy Brandt, Joan Shorr, Kim Walsh, Ann Cook, Carol Speck, Jessie Mussilli, Sarah Haggerty, Sydney Haggerty, Deb Card, Barbara Miller, Lisa VanOrden, Ann Marie Penhaker, Rose Garrison, Marilyn Cartagena, Lily French, Shane Schwarz and Michele Hordyszynski. In addition, we would like to thank Mr. Gall and the secretarial staff, and our Wantage custodians John Myslinski, Joe Cooper and Bob Drake, who accommodated our every need!  We truly hope that no one’s name has been left off this overwhelming list of volunteers. Sussex Wantage Swim Club 8 Pepperidge Road, Wantage * www.swporpoises.org * 973-222-8514  Pool memberships are not required for lessons or special events. Summer is coming and the SWSC is preparing for a great season! The pool, kiddie pool and snack bar will be open on June 19th for the entire summer.  The Sussex- Wantage Porpoises Swim Team begins Monday June 19th with morning and evening practices daily.   Individual and Family Pool memberships are available starting at $225. Senior citizens receive a 15% discount.  Swim team registration extended through June 21st!  Register online or download a form at our website and mail in before 6/21. Swim lessons for adults and children:  Basic swim lessons are $60 for 10 sessions. For more information and scheduling, please contact Kylie at kmearkle89@yahoo.com. Birthday parties and Special events:  Bring your party to the pool for only $100 for 15 children (each additional child $5 each). Teen Nights: Fun night of swimming and music with friends for kids age 11 and older on 7/2 and 7/23 from 7 -10pm.  $5 admission. Adult Water Aerobics: Free trial class on 6/26 from 10:30-11:15am.  Regular classes will start Sat. 7/10 for 10 weeks at $40 per person. Carlson’s Swim Conditioning Clinic: Daily program for dedicated swimmers who can handle practice of at least 5,000 yards. $200 for non-pool members and non team members, and $100 for swim team and pool members.  To gain acceptance to this program, submit a list of your best times to Coach Carlson at swim316@yahoo.com. Blood Drive Saturday, June 19 from 9:00am to 2:00pm.  American Legion Post 213, 915 Route 23 N., Sussex.  Collection will be by The Blood Center of New Jersey, 973-676-4700.  Must be 18.  I.D. is required to donate. 

 

Hey Kids – Be a State Fair Exhibitor!  Looking for something to do with your children this summer?  Consider being an exhibitor at the New Jersey State Fair®/ Sussex County Farm & Horse Show.  Go to the Fair website: www.njstatefair.org, click on NJSF/SCFHS at the bottom, then click on Exhibitors.  The specific ages and entry dates for each division varies.

 

The NJ State Fair is offering several ticket purchase options this year.  For more info on the Fair or events at the Fairgrounds, go to newjerseystatefair.org.  See you there!
